Get to Know Us

Hi, my name is Annabelle and I am the founder of CSA. Shortly after I found out that my Allergan breast implants had been withdrawn I started a blog. The worldwide withdrawal was due to a link with a rare lymphatic cancer, which is now known as ‘Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, BIA-ALCL’.

I have one of the styles of Allergan textured implants that have the highest recorded link to BIA-ALCL. As a woman at risk, I wanted women to have a resource they could trust. BIA-ALCL may not be in the news anymore. But I know, like myself, there are thousands of women around the world who are still worried, and I will continue to update the site with any new research or information I find out about BIA-ALCL.

Like many people, I went to a surgeon based on a friend’s recommendation. But I was lucky, he was a properly qualified plastic surgeon and a member of the British Association of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). That was over 15 years ago! And I am still very happy with the outcomes of my plastic surgery procedures. But I also know that it could have been a very different story if I hadn’t been under the care of a properly qualified, and caring plastic surgeon.

At this current time, regulatory authorities and lawmakers around the world are letting patients down. This is making it easy for numerous cosmetic surgery websites and directories to make huge annual profit, by allowing any type of surgeon to promote themselves as a cosmetic surgeon. As a result, medical practitioners, non-specialist surgeons, or those without appropriate surgical training are performing cosmetic surgery.

Until there is stricter regulation people who have cosmetic surgery will continue to experience life-changing complications or even death. This is why I launched our Cosmetic Surgery Directory, to try to protect patients from unscrupulous ‘cosmetic surgeons’. Unlike so many other websites, we only permit properly qualified plastic surgeons to have a profile in our directory.

Cosmetic Surgery Advancements CSA

Who you chose to perform your cosmetic surgery is a personal decision. All I ask is whoever you chose, please check they are a properly qualified plastic surgeon, and never rely on testimonials or star ratings on websites.

My cosmetic surgery journey has been a lot more than just wanting to look a certain way, it was about feeling comfortable in my body and learning to love myself. Throughout your life you will make choices other people don’t understand or agree with. Never trade your authenticity for approval.
